An 18-year-old man from Leamington has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after a teenage boy was stabbed in Pump Room Gardens on Friday night.
Warwickshire Police announced the arrest at 6.36pm on Saturday 17 October (Warwickshire Police). Detectives are still appealing for witnesses.
What the police have said
The force’s statement sets out the following:
- The incident happened at around 10.25pm on Friday 16 October in Pump Room Gardens, near the bandstand.
- A teenage boy suffered a serious stab injury to his chest.
- He remains in hospital in a stable condition.
- A 16-year-old boy was arrested on suspicion of affray.
- An 18-year-old man from Leamington was later arrested on suspicion of attempted murder.
The force has not named either person arrested or the injured boy. An arrest is not a charge, and neither person has been charged.
Detective Inspector Imran Ghouri, of Leamington CID, said: “This was an extremely serious incident and we are working hard to identify the person responsible.”
He added: “We know there were a lot of people in the area at the time and we are keen to speak to anyone who witnessed the attack. We would also like to hear from anyone who has CCTV, dashcam or doorbell footage from the surrounding area around the time of the incident.”
In its update, the force thanked people who had contacted it on Saturday with information.

Violence recorded in central Leamington this year
Police.uk does not record knife crime as a separate category, so the published figures cannot say how many stabbings there have been in Leamington this year. They do show the wider picture for violence.
Within a mile of Pump Room Gardens, police recorded 935 violence and sexual offences between January and August 2026, the latest month published (police.uk open data). The monthly total rose from 91 in February to 142 in July, then 138 in August.
Over the same eight months, 38 offences of possession of weapons were recorded in the same area.
Police.uk places each crime at the nearest of a set of map points rather than its exact address, so these are figures for the area, not for the gardens themselves. Friday’s incident will not appear in the published data until the October figures are released.

The force’s statement does not mention any wider risk to the public or any closure of the gardens.
