Station Approach is £3.75 for 11 hours; the station's own car park is £9.70 a day. Full 2026 tariffs for Leamington, Warwick and Kenilworth, plus the free bays.

Two car parks sit within a couple of minutes’ walk of Leamington Spa station. One charges £9.70 for a day. The other charges £3.75 for eleven hours. They are run by different organisations, and nothing at either one tells you the other exists.

That gap, and three car parks where the first two hours cost nothing, are the things worth knowing before you drive into any of the three towns.

The quick answer

  • Charges run 8am to 6pm, and they apply on bank holidays. No free bank holiday parking here.
  • Evenings are a flat £2.75, 6pm to 8am, in almost every council car park.
  • Council car parks take card or app only. No coins. On-street machines do take cash.
  • Free for two hours: Abbey Fields in Kenilworth, Hampton Road and Bread and Meat Close in Warwick. You still have to get a ticket from the machine.
  • Cheapest full day in the district: Hampton Road, Warwick, at £2.00 for 24 hours.
  • Cheapest all-day in Leamington: £3.75 for 11 hours at Station Approach, Bath Place, Court Street or Packington Place.
  • Blue badge holders park free in council car parks and in on-street pay and display bays.
  • On-street parking is the county council’s, not the district’s, at £1.80 an hour.

Leamington Spa car parks

All twelve are run by Warwick District Council, open 24 hours, and pay and display. The daytime rate covers 8am to 6pm including bank holidays; after 6pm a single £2.75 ticket lasts until 8am.

The spread on a full day is large and not obvious from the street. Twenty-four hours costs £5.10 at Bath Place and £13.65 at Rosefield Street, which is around five minutes’ walk further from the Parade in the other direction.

Covent Garden multi-storey reopened on 1 July 2026, three and a half years after it shut in February 2023. The council took the height of the building down so that two levels could come back into use, adding 104 spaces to the 89 on the surface below. Two floors are still out of use while the council decides what to do with them.

Two things in that table are worth spelling out.

Hampton Road is the outlier. Two hours free, then £2.00 for a full 24 hours, against £12.45 at four other Warwick car parks. It has 189 spaces, next to the racecourse, and the council calls it a 10 to 15 minute walk from the town centre. The trade-off is that walk, and a 2m height barrier.

St Nicholas gives two free hours in the evening, from 6pm to 8am, rather than in the daytime. Everywhere else the 6pm to 8am ticket is £2.75.

Linen Street multi-storey is closed and is not coming back in its present form. The council’s closure page points drivers to Hampton Road instead, and quotes an annual season ticket there at £153; the council’s current price list says £100. Take the price list.

Kenilworth car parks

Kenilworth has three council car parks, all long stay, all cheaper per hour than Leamington or Warwick.

Warwick District Council car park charges in Kenilworth, 8am to 6pm
Car park1 hr2 hrs4 hrsAll day
Abbey FieldsFirst 2 hrs free£4.25£7.60 for 10 hrs, £12.45 for 24

Square West£1.45£2.40£4.25£7.60 for 10 hrs, £12.45 for 24

Abbey Fields is a minute from the town centre, has 102 spaces, and gives two free hours seven days a week. The catch is the same one that catches people out at Hampton Road and Bread and Meat Close: you still have to get the free ticket from the machine and display it. No ticket, no concession, and the enforcement is the same as if you had not paid.

The station car park trap

Leamington Spa station has two car parks beside each other under two different operators, at very different prices.

A commuter using Station Approach instead of the station’s own car park saves almost £6 a day. Station Approach has 99 spaces against the station’s 706, so it fills, and its 30-space Lower Road overflow charges the same.

Two details on the Chiltern car parks. Weekends and off-peak start at noon, not at the usual off-peak train time. And blue badge parking is free in the accessible bays, but only if you register your registration number at the ticket office, which is not true of the council’s car parks.

Chiltern’s own Leamington Spa station page also carries a notice that the forecourt car park and drop-off points are closed to vehicles “until Monday 20th June”, with no year attached. 20 June does not fall on a Monday in 2026, so treat it as out of date and check on arrival.

On-street parking, and who runs it

Warwick District Council runs the car parks. Warwickshire County Council runs everything on the street, including the meters, the permits and the enforcement, on 01926 410410.

On-street tariffs from 1 April 2026 in Leamington, Warwick and Kenilworth:

  • 15 minutes: £0.35
  • 30 minutes: £0.90
  • 1 hour: £1.80
  • 1.5 hours: £2.70
  • 2 hours: £3.60

Individual streets are signed for 30 minutes, one hour or two hours, so the maximum stay is whatever the sign says rather than whatever you can pay for.

The payment methods are the wrong way round from what most people expect. The county’s on-street machines take cash or RingGo. The district’s car parks take no coins at all: card, or one of the National Parking Platform apps (APCOA, JustPark, RingGo, PayByPhone or Caura).

Residents’ permits

There is no district-wide residents’ permit scheme in Warwick district car parks. There is exactly one: the Abbey Fields residents’ season ticket in Kenilworth, which gives eligible households up to two permits at £48 each. Eligibility is by house number, on Bridge Street, High Street, Fieldgate Lane, New Street and Rosemary Hill.

On-street residents’ permits, where a street has them, are a county council matter.

Season tickets

Season tickets do not guarantee a space, and each car park has a cap on how many it sells. Apply at least ten working days ahead, because the ticket is not valid until it is in the car.

An overnight permit costs £70 a year and covers 6pm to 9am, Monday to Sunday, at any of the car parks in the list. Changes to an existing season ticket carry a £9 administration charge.

Blue badge and accessible bays

Blue badge holders park free in every Warwick District Council car park, with the badge displayed on the dashboard, and free in on-street pay and display bays across Warwickshire for as long as the signage allows.

The largest counts of marked accessible bays are St Nicholas in Warwick (11), then Abbey End in Kenilworth and Covent Garden surface in Leamington (8 each), and St Peters multi-storey (6). Several have none marked at all:

  • Leamington: Adelaide Bridge, Chandos Street, Covent Garden multi-storey, Station Approach and Station Approach Lower Road
  • Warwick: Castle Lane and Hampton Road

So check the record for the car park you are heading to rather than assuming.

The St Peters multi-storey lift is currently out of use awaiting repairs, which matters if you are heading for the upper decks.

Motorhomes, motorcycles and lorries

  • Motorhomes can stay overnight at Hampton Road, Warwick, for £2.00 from 6pm to 8am, or £11 for 24 hours between 8am and 6pm. Daytime motorhome parking is also allowed at Bread and Meat Close and Vittle Drive. There is no motorhome provision in Leamington or Kenilworth.
  • Motorcycles park free in the designated areas of surface car parks, and free in on-street bays for the signed maximum stay.
  • Lorries are not permitted. Every council car park has a 3.5 tonne weight limit.

Electric charging: Chandos Street in Leamington, Abbey End in Kenilworth and West Rock in Warwick each have eight BP Pulse bays, which need a BP Pulse account. The formerly free chargers at Station Approach and Covent Garden have been moved onto the paid network.
