No rink is listed in Leamington town centre for 2026. The nearest is Warwick Castle's open-air rink, 21 Nov to 3 Jan from £8; Birmingham opens 5 Nov.

The quick answer: no ice rink is listed in Leamington town centre for Christmas 2026. Neither BID Leamington’s town centre events list nor Warwick District Council’s events feed carries one as of 20 October. The nearest real ice is next door in Warwick, at Warwick Castle, open-air from Saturday 21 November 2026 to Sunday 3 January 2027, from £8 for 45 minutes. Birmingham’s covered rink in Centenary Square opens on 5 November, and Planet Ice in Coventry is open all year.

Is there an ice rink in Leamington this year?

Not one that has been announced. BID Leamington’s events page lists the town’s run of winter events, from the Pumpkin Path (24 October to 1 November) to the Christmas lights switch-on on Sunday 15 November, Small Business Saturday on 5 December and the Lantern Parade on 6 December. There is no rink on it. Warwick District Council’s events listings have none either.

Leamington has had something small before: a Coventry Telegraph report on the 2025 lights switch-on said a rink would run at Regents Court on two December Saturdays. Nothing like it has been listed for 2026. If one is announced, we will add it here.

The closest thing in the town centre itself is the Christmas market on the Parade on Sundays; see our Leamington Christmas markets page.

Warwick Castle: the nearest rink

Warwick Castle’s ice skating page says skating runs from 21 November 2026 to 3 January 2027, on an open-air rink on the East Front beneath Guy’s Tower.

Ticket From
Ice skating only £8
Castle entry + skate (castle open 10am to 4pm, last entry 3pm) £18
  • Each slot is 45 minutes on the ice. Skate hire is included.
  • Pre-booking is essential. Spare slots may be bookable on the day in the castle app, but the castle does not promise any.
  • A skate-only ticket covers the rink and the food stalls next to it, not the castle.
  • Skate aids for children cost £5 and are first come, first served at the rink.
  • Bags are not allowed on the ice. The cloakroom is £2, card only.
  • Gold and Platinum Merlin Annual Passholders get 20% off a “Passholder Skate Session”. Local and Essential passes do not qualify, and discounts from the castle’s ticket partners do not apply to skating.
  • The castle gives two arrival times: 15 minutes before your slot near the top of the page, 20 minutes in its FAQs. Allow 20.

The prices are “from” figures that vary by slot, so evenings and weekends will usually cost more at checkout. The light trail and Stories with Santa run alongside the rink; our Warwick Castle Christmas page has the full season.

Ice Skate Birmingham: the big covered one

Ice Skate Birmingham returns to Centenary Square, Broad Street, B1 2EA, from 5 November 2026 to 3 January 2027, closed only on Christmas Day. The rink has a roof, so rain does not cancel a session.

  • Sessions start on the hour from 10am to 9pm and last 45 minutes. Arrive 30 minutes early.
  • Skate hire is included; socks are compulsory. Lockers are £1.
  • Children under 7 must skate with an adult.

The organiser’s price table, as published on 20 October:

Ticket Standard (4pm to 10pm, and weekends) Off-peak (11am and 3pm, Mon to Fri)
Adult £14.00 £11.50
Junior (12 and under) £12.00 £8.93
Family (2 adults + 2 children, or 1 + 3) £45.00 £40.00
Penguin skating aid £5.00 £4.50

Treat these with some care. The same page also lists an early bird price “until Thursday 31st October” (31 October 2026 is a Saturday), which looks carried over from last year. The opening date varies too: Birmingham City Council’s big wheel and ice rink page says 1 November, while the rink’s own site says 5 November. Go by the rink’s booking page.

Trains run from Leamington to Birmingham, and Centenary Square is on Broad Street on the west side of the city centre.

Planet Ice Coventry: open all year

Planet Ice Coventry, on Croft Road, CV1 3AZ, is the home of the Coventry Blaze and runs public skating sessions year-round, not just at Christmas. Planet Ice’s own rules apply across its rinks:

  • Public skating is for ages 3 and up. The Penguin Club is for children aged 5 and under, with one accompanying adult free.
  • Online bookings carry a 4% booking fee.
  • Skate aids are hired at the rink from £7 an hour.
  • Student prices are online only and must be booked ahead.

Session times and prices are only shown in the booking calendar on planet-ice.co.uk, so check there for the date you want.

Stoneleigh Winter Fair: a synthetic rink

The Stoneleigh Winter Fair at NAEC Stoneleigh (CV8 2LZ) on Saturday 28 and Sunday 29 November has a skate rink, but NAEC Stoneleigh’s page is clear that it is synthetic, not real ice. Entry to the fair is £7 with free parking; the rink may cost extra on the day. It suits small children trying skating for the first time more than anyone wanting a proper skate.

Which to choose

  • Short trip and a castle backdrop: Warwick Castle. It is the closest, but it is outdoors, so dress for the weather.
  • Bad weather or a late evening: Birmingham, which is roofed and open until 10pm.
  • Proper skating, or a lesson: Planet Ice Coventry, a full-size rink open outside the Christmas season.
  • Under-fives having a first go: the Stoneleigh rink, alongside a day out at the fair.

Getting there and parking

For Warwick Castle, the castle’s own car park charges separately in the evening. The town car parks at West Rock (CV34 4DZ) and Cape Road (CV34 4UN) are a short walk away; charges and closing times are on our parking page. Check the roadworks and travel page before driving to any of the four in December.

Dates and prices were read from warwick-castle.com, iceskatebirmingham.co.uk, birmingham.gov.uk, planet-ice.co.uk, naecstoneleigh.co.uk and bidleamington.com on 20 October 2026. We will update this page if a Leamington rink is announced.
