Police have renewed their appeal over the stabbing of a teenage boy in Pump Room Gardens on 16 October. Everyone arrested so far has been released on bail, and a 63-year-old woman has been arrested.

Detectives are renewing their appeal for witnesses three weeks after a teenage boy was stabbed in the chest in Pump Room Gardens.

The renewed appeal is on the Warwickshire Police website (Warwickshire Police). It says everyone arrested so far has been released on bail. Nobody has been charged.

What the police have said

The force’s latest statement sets out the following:

  • The attack happened at around 10.25pm on Friday 16 October in Pump Room Gardens, near the bandstand.
  • The victim suffered a serious injury to his chest which needed hospital treatment.
  • A 16-year-old boy and an 18-year-old man who were both arrested have been released on bail with conditions.
  • An 18-year-old man from Leamington who was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder has since been released on bail.
  • A 63-year-old woman from Leamington who was arrested for assisting an offender has since been bailed.

The arrest of the 63-year-old woman had not been announced in the force’s first statement on 17 October, which we reported at the time. The force has not named anyone arrested or the injured boy. Bail is not a charge, and an arrest is not a finding of guilt.

Detective Inspector Ant Episcopo, of Leamington CID, said: “This was an extremely serious incident and we’re continuing to investigate the circumstances.”

He added: “We know there were a lot of people in the area at the time and we are keen to speak to anyone who may have witnessed the attack and have not yet come forward.”

How to help

The force’s original appeal asked people to contact:

  • Warwickshire Police on 101, quoting incident 488 of 16 October 2026
  • Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111, anonymously, or through the Crimestoppers website

It also asked for CCTV, dashcam and doorbell footage from the streets around the gardens that night (Warwickshire Police, 17 October).

What it means for you

The renewed appeal is aimed at people who were in or near the gardens that Friday night and have not yet spoken to the police. Detectives say there were a lot of people around at the time. If you were one of them, what you saw may matter even if it seemed minor.

The statement does not mention any wider risk to the public.

We will update this page if the force charges anyone or issues further information.
