The Mayor of Warwick's Paws for a Good Cause opens Warwick Castle's grounds to dogs on Thursday 17 September, 4.30pm to 6.30pm. £6.50 a ticket, £5.25 of it to two charities. The rules and how to book.

Dogs will be allowed into the grounds of Warwick Castle for one evening next month, at a fundraising walk organised by the Mayor of Warwick. “Paws for a Good Cause” runs from 4.30pm to 6.30pm on Thursday 17 September 2026, tickets are £6.50, and £5.25 from each one goes to the two charities the Mayor is supporting this year, according to the organiser’s Eventbrite listing.

That is a rare offer. Warwick Castle’s own visitor guidance says pets are not allowed on site, with assistance dogs the only exception, so for most owners this is the only way to walk a dog beneath the castle walls.

The details, as published by the organiser

The listing is published under the organiser name “Mayor of Warwick”; the current Mayor is Councillor Simon Pargeter, with Councillor Paul Wightman as Deputy Mayor. The event’s terms are short and worth reading before you book:

  • When: Thursday 17 September 2026, 4.30pm to 6.30pm. Last entry is 6.30pm and the grounds close at 7pm.
  • Where: Warwick Castle, Castle Lane, Warwick CV34 6AU. Entry is via the Stables entrance off Castle Lane, not the main visitor entrance.
  • Access: to the castle grounds only. The listing does not include the castle interior or its paid attractions.
  • Dogs: all dogs must be kept on a lead at all times, and no more than two dogs per person. The organiser notes that there will be peacocks in the grounds.
  • Cost: £6.50 per ticket through Eventbrite, of which £5.25 goes directly to charity. The listing states there are no refunds. Tickets went on sale on 23 July.

Where the money goes

The Mayor’s charities for the year are the Graham Fulford Charitable Trust and the Sea Life Trust, and the listing says all money raised will be split between them.

The Graham Fulford Charitable Trust is a Warwick charity that runs community PSA blood-testing events for prostate cancer and other health checks around the country. Its next Warwick session, listed on its own site, is a prostate and health awareness testing evening on Thursday 20 August, 6pm to 8.30pm, at Charles Street, CV34 5LE, with booking online. The Sea Life Trust is a registered charity (number 1175859) working on ocean conservation; it runs the Cornish Seal Sanctuary in the UK and a beluga whale sanctuary in Iceland.

What it means for you

  • Dog owners: it is a ticketed, timed slot with a hard 6.30pm last entry, so arrive at the Stables entrance on Castle Lane rather than the main gates, bring a lead you can keep on for the whole visit, and expect peacocks. If your dog is not reliable around birds or crowds, this may not be the evening for them.
  • Getting there: Castle Lane is in the middle of Warwick, a short walk from the town centre. If you are driving from Leamington, check our roadworks and travel page before you set off, and allow time to park in Warwick town centre and walk to Castle Lane.
  • Anyone who wants to give without walking: the listing is explicit that £5.25 of the £6.50 reaches the charities. Both also take donations directly through their own websites, linked above.
  • Anyone wanting a PSA test: the Graham Fulford Charitable Trust’s Warwick testing evening on 20 August is the practical way to support the same cause and get tested in the same month, and it needs booking in advance through the trust’s site.

We will add the Mayor’s fundraising total if the town council or the organiser publishes one after the event.
